Life goes on and everyone finds their way to cope.
I had a difficult time “fitting in” when I was growing up. Epilepsy made me feel more isolated, especially when my “friend” ran off when I crashed my car during my first seizure. I refused to accept my condition because I was afraid and in denial.
Eventually, I found a good health care team who encouraged me to take an active approach with my treatment. Now, I have better seizure control and a more positive attitude due to support from my family and medical team. I work with two epilepsy organizations, and as an Epilepsy Ambassador I share my experience and encourage understanding about living well with epilepsy.
