What’s the latest in epilepsy research? How might it change treatment in the near future? Find out in future issues of Go Beyond, as our roving reporters, Marion, Alexander and Julie, provide you with A Glimpse of the Future, from three major European meetings for epilepsy.
Marion has already attended all courses, debates, lectures and poster sessions related to epilepsy at the 12th Congress of the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS), held in Madrid August 23rd to 26th, 2008. Based in Austria, the role of the EFNS is to advance the development of neurology as an independent specialty caring for all patients with nervous system disorders.
Marion said of her role as a roving reporter at the congress: "As an epilepsy advocate and a person living well with epilepsy, I felt it was important to find out as much as I could about what is happening in the field of epilepsy research. I am always curious to learn new information about new ways of treating epilepsy, as well as how the rest of the world is looking at epilepsy politically, socially, and medically."
You’ll read about the comprehensive program put together for the 8th European Congress on Epileptology (ECE), held in Berlin from September 21st to 25th. Under the joint auspices of the German and Israeli chapters of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), the conference will focus on the most relevant — and recent — issues in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of epilepsy.
Marseille, the oldest city in France, has been chosen as the host for the 11th European Conference on Epilepsy and Society, from October 15th to 17th. "Active Life and Epilepsy" is the theme of the engaging conference program, put together by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE).
In the next issues of Go Beyond, you’ll learn about the very latest in research, treatment, and social issues surrounding epilepsy from these important conferences, as our roving reporters recount what they’ve discovered.
