I think first of all knowing that there is the chance to receive good treatment and that as a patient you are entitled to that so firstly I would say find a specialist, find somebody who knows about epilepsy and specialises in the treatment of that. I think when you find somebody like that, really speaking up, telling them what your concerns are, what your life's like and how your epilepsy fits around with that. Also taking some responsibility so knowing that you have choices and that that can affect the control of your epilepsy, it's not just down to the doctor; you do have a responsibility yourself.
What advice would you give to someone just diagnosed with epilepsy?
