I do not want to JUST survive; I want a quality of life! I want to thrive!

When I was first diagnosed with epilepsy at age 17, my type of epilepsy was misdiagnosed and went untreated until I received a proper diagnosis at age 45. Since then, I´ve worked closely with a neurologist to find better control for my epilepsy.
I can now focus more on my family, my love of cooking, and community activism. I co-authored a book about people with epilepsy living to their fullest potential. The book, titled In Balans, Uit Balans (In Balance, Out of Balance) focuses on women´s experiences with epilepsy.
As an Epilepsy Advocate I share my experience and encourage understanding about living well with epilepsy.
