I have not let my epilepsy stop me from living my dreams
I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 1987, while balancing motherhood, a career and academics. Since then, I´ve faced many obstacles. My neurologists and I continue searching for a treatment with tolerable side effects.
Today, I recognize epilepsy has made a big impact on my life but I fearlessly continue to live my life. I enjoy hiking and travelling and have co-written a book on women with epilepsy, called In Balans, Uit Balans (In Balance, Out of Balance).
As an Epilepsy Ambassador I share my experience and encourage understanding about living well with epilepsy.
What would you say to someone who has just learnt they have epilepsy?
